Before you buy anything

The Four Things Homeowners Ask Us Most

You are researching. That is the right thing to do. Here are straight answers to the questions that usually come up, including the ones most companies avoid.

Objection 1

“A kit from the store is a lot cheaper.”

Up front, yes. Then the subscription starts. Many popular systems charge to store and review your own footage, and that fee never stops. Over a few years it often costs more than a professional system that has no fee at all.

The bigger cost is the one nobody prices in. When footage is grainy, missing, or the app will not load on the one morning you actually need it, the system did not save you anything.

Our packages start at $2,500 installed with no monthly fee attached. We break that down further below.

Objection 2

“Do I really need it hardwired?”

In Wisconsin, it matters more than most places. Battery cameras lose capacity in deep cold, so the season you most want coverage is the season they are most likely to be dead. Wi-Fi cameras drop signal through the thick masonry and plaster common in older Milwaukee homes.

POE cameras run power and video over one cable. No batteries, no Wi-Fi dependency, no seasonal surprises.

Objection 3

“I already bought my cameras.”

Then keep them. We install customer-supplied equipment, and we will tell you honestly if what you bought will do the job before we take the work.

You are not required to purchase hardware through us to hire us. Our limited lifetime warranty still covers the labor on the installation either way.

Objection 4

“What happens after the install?”

You call us and we answer. Not a call center in another state, and not a contractor we hired who has moved on. The people who installed your system are the people who service it.

We are a Milwaukee company. We use no subcontractors. If something needs attention in two years, we are still here.

An honest comparison

Store-Bought Kit vs. A Professional System

Both have a place. Here is the difference so you can decide which one actually fits your home.

What A Professional System Actually Costs

Most companies make you fill out a form before they will talk about price. Here is the number.

Home camera packages start at$2,500

Installed. No monthly fee, ever.

Professional installation by our own team, never a subcontractor
Limited lifetime warranty on the installation
Hardwired POE, so no batteries and no Wi-Fi dependency
Local recording, so you never pay to watch your own footage
Remote viewing configured on your phone before we leave
Cable runs concealed, not stapled across your siding

Why it is a range and not one flat price. Camera count matters, but so does how your home is built. Eight cameras on a century-old duplex with plaster walls and no attic access is a different day of work than four on a newer build. We look at the actual house before we quote it, and the number we give you is the number you pay.

Worth doing the math on. A subscription-based kit looks cheaper the day you buy it, then charges you every month for as long as you own it, and stops working the moment you stop paying. A system installed here has no monthly fee attached to it at all. Over the years you will actually live in your home, that gap closes faster than most people expect, and you end up owning the system instead of renting access to it.

Your questions answered

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The monthly fee comes from cloud-based systems that store your footage on someone else’s servers. Systems that record locally to an NVR on your property have no recurring charge, because the footage never leaves your home.

Every system we install for homeowners records locally. You own the footage and you pay nothing to look at it. That is one of the main reasons people call us after living with a subscription for a year or two.

Wireless is easier to install and easier to move. Wired is more reliable, and for a permanent home system reliability is the thing that matters.

Wired POE cameras carry power and video over a single cable, so there is nothing to charge and no signal to lose. Wireless cameras depend on Wi-Fi strength and battery life, both of which fail at inconvenient times, especially through the thick walls of older Milwaukee homes and in Wisconsin cold.

For most homes we recommend POE. We install both, and we will tell you honestly which one your property calls for.

Yes. A system that records to a local NVR or recorder on site does not require a subscription at any point. Cloud plans are optional conveniences, not requirements.

This is standard for the systems we install. No plan, no tier, no fee to review your own recordings.

Not to record. A wired system with a local recorder captures and stores footage whether or not the internet is up, which is exactly what you want during an outage.

Internet is only needed for the extras: watching live from your phone while you are away, and motion alerts. We can build the system either way depending on what you want.

Four things come up repeatedly:

  • Signal drops cause lag, gaps in recording, and cameras that show as offline.
  • Batteries need regular charging, and cold weather shortens how long they last.
  • A poorly secured Wi-Fi camera is a larger security exposure than a wired one.
  • Placement is limited to wherever your Wi-Fi actually reaches, which is rarely where you need the camera.

None of this makes Wi-Fi cameras useless. It does mean they are a weaker fit for permanent home coverage than a wired system.

Resolution high enough to identify a face rather than just notice a shape. Night performance that holds up, since most of what you will want to review happened after dark. Motion alerts you can tune so you are not ignoring them by week two. Weather-rated housings for anything outdoors. A dependable power source, which in practice means POE.

The part people underestimate is placement. A well-placed mid-range camera beats an expensive one pointed at the wrong angle. That judgment is most of what you are hiring an installer for.

Our home security camera packages start at $2,500 installed, and that includes professional installation by our own team and a limited lifetime warranty on the work. There is no monthly fee attached to it.

Where a project lands above that depends on camera count and on how your home is built. A four-camera install on a newer home is a different job than eight cameras on a century-old duplex with plaster walls and difficult cable routing. We come out, look at the actual house, and give you an itemized written quote for free. The number we give you is the number you pay.

Yes, and it is a common request. You are not required to buy hardware from us to hire us for the work.

We will look at what you have and tell you plainly whether it will do what you are hoping. If it will, we install it properly. Our limited lifetime warranty covers our labor regardless of who supplied the equipment.
